My Reflections.
"To achieve in sports you first have to have a dream, and then you must act on that dream. The best athletes are those who truly enjoy what they are doing and display a tremendous amount of work ethic. They continue to persevere in spite of setbacks and never lose sight of their ultimate goal." ---Dianne Holum (Olympic Champion, speed skater)
Someone asked me, why I must read your reflection for the game. My answer to you is, I want to know what went on in your head. I want to know how I can better help the team. I also want to make sure that players actually spent time to think about today's game. Did you achieve any game satisfaction? I don't know how you feel, the truth is, I don't feel too good, in fact, I am bothered.
I spoke to someone after the game. I asked her how she felt. She told me that she felt 'numb’ when it comes to games. Somehow, she has lost the desire, the fire. My heart broke when I heard that – just barely a month ago I was speaking to the same person, and she was so filled with desire to win, what has happened? Where have we gone wrong?
All we need is 2 more games to achieve what we have been working for – all your life since Secondary ONE. Now you are so close to achieving the goal and what I hear is that you have lost the desire?
Don't get me wrong, it is fine that you drew the game, but was that your 10/10 effort?
It is always a question of HOW you WON it, and HOW you LOST it.
we have spoken about this many times before.
Winning is good (anyone wants to lose?) and there are many reasons why :
- You will become known as the
Dream Team that won the National Schools B Division Hockey Title 2006 - The Best Secondary School Hockey Team in Singapore
- You set the standard for the
future young Theresians to follow/emulate
- For the sake of your
faithful supporters : Teachers (VP included), ex-Theresians and even your juniors
- For your
Coaches (both past & present), who have invested a lot of time in you
- For your
Team mates : who have spent countless hours in the sun running, training & working as a team
- For your
School : You have only achieved the SHF U21 title under Theresians Club, NOT under
CHIJ ST THERESA'S CONVENT – you have yet to make a name for your school
- For
yourself : are you giving yourself the chance to achieve something worthwhile in your life? Something you will always remember and treasure for the rest of your life, and be proud of ?
If you feel that you've had too much of hockey, go ahead and take the break that you need. You have your EFL, your one week break. Please do what you must to recharge yourself, to rekindle that fire/desire. We need you to come back to the games, fully ready, to take on any team. 2 more games, that is all we ask of you.
If this is not the year to win the title, then when is the right time?
Can you do it?
Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Nicole Tan

GO GOLD GOAL
this week can't get better. on friday, we won our first national schools game with
yuhua 2-0. yesterday, we won the CHAMPS for U21 B division. how can this get
better? i am really proud of the B div team, really. this is really a great start. my
confidence level is building up, i'm starting to believe more and more that this team
will work out well in B div. my fears are disappearing but i'm not complacent. cause
i know there were many mistakes made and i will visualise and i can improve on them.
alright, great job girls for the champs :) keep up the good work and let's improve by
cutting down silly mistakes. oh remember to bring the medals to school tomorrow :)
LOVING YOU GIRLS <3>
